What kind of church government would you recommend for a local church?

Government is another way to speak of how we administrate or manage the church. Government is not a bad word, in fact, it is essential to the success of the church. Every church will be governed by an actual structure. If no structure exit, a defacto government will automatically take its place. Defacto simply refers to that which exists “in fact, but without legal sanction”.   The normal church structure may vary from church to church but a basic arrangement may look something like this. Naturally the pastor is as the top because of his position. Then there may be a trustee board, a deacon board, pastoral advisory team, church departments, etc.Weather you want a trustee board, as apposed to a deacon board, is a matter of how the church was set up under its by-laws. If you are setting up a new church organization, you should do a lot of research and talk to other pastor’s about what kind of board they use and how to set it up. This structure chart may have as many divisions as you choose but you do not want a structure that is cumbersome and hard for the church to understand and operate under.
