As a worship leader I want to please God and the pastor. How can I best achieve this?

Great question! Be sure and communicate with the pastor.  Obey his instructions no matter how you feel about them.   If you do not know something, or you do not understand, speak with the pastor about it.  Occasionally ask your pastor how he thinks you are doing and if he has any changes he wants to make or suggestions as to how to make things better.  Spend time in prayer. Tell the pastor what you are feeling in the Holy Ghost.
